HERO stands for Hope, Endurance, Resiliency, and Optimism. A Hero is the family member or friend admired
for his/her great strength and qualities when a loved one has cancer-ordinary people that do extraordinary
things. A Hero knows how to make every moment count and it may be someone you know...
The HERO Award is not intended to be a contest, nor a spectacle. The recipients do not ask for their circumstances and
most likely are not aware of their heroism; yet they inspire their loved one with cancer and those around them.
How are people nominated for a HERO Award? Loved ones with cancer can nominate his/her Hero; other
family or medical professionals can, with the permission of a loved one nominate a Hero.
All nominations are sent electronically to Help For Family and Friends, with an explanation of why this person is a Hero,
his/her favorite bookstore and a mailing address. Then, on a monthly basis, someone is chosen and highlighted in our
electronic newsletter (E-zine) and on our website. Other honorable mentions will also be highlighted on our website
"What do the recipients receive," you ask?

Make-A-Wish Foundation, Leukemia Lymphoma Society, etc).
2. A HERO Award Certificate
